Return and Refund Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

At Lightline Distributions, we are committed to supplying high-quality LED lighting products, transformers, power supplies and electrical components. We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase and aim to make our returns and refunds process as straightforward as possible.

1. Change-of-Mind Returns

In accordance with South Africa's Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), customers purchasing eligible products through our online store may cancel their purchase within seven calendar days of receiving their goods, without providing a reason.

To request a return, please contact us within this period through our website's contact page.

We ask that returned products be unused, in their original condition and accompanied by their original packaging and accessories, wherever reasonably possible.

The direct cost of returning a product due to a change of mind is the customer's responsibility, where permitted by law.

Certain products, including goods specially manufactured, customised or cut to a customer's specifications, may be excluded from change-of-mind returns in accordance with applicable legislation.

These conditions do not restrict your statutory rights.

2. Incorrectly Ordered Products

Please check all product specifications carefully before completing your purchase, particularly voltage, wattage, dimensions, colour temperature, dimming compatibility and intended application.

If you have ordered the incorrect product, please contact us before installing, altering or using it.

We may accommodate exchanges for alternative products, subject to availability and the product's condition.

For voluntary exchanges outside statutory return rights, customers may be responsible for return shipping, additional delivery costs and any difference in product price.

3. Faulty or Defective Products

All products supplied by Lightline Distributions are subject to the applicable provisions of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).

Where the CPA applies, customers have the right to return goods that fail to meet the statutory quality standards within six months of delivery.

For qualifying defective, unsafe or non-compliant goods, customers may choose to receive:

  • A repair;

  • A replacement; or

  • A refund of the purchase price.

Qualifying returns under this provision will be handled at our risk and expense.

Please contact us with your order number, a description of the problem and photographs or videos where available.

We may request additional information or arrange a product inspection to establish the nature and cause of the fault. This process will not limit your statutory rights.

4. Electrical Installation and Product Compatibility

Our products include specialised electrical components designed for specific applications and operating conditions.

Customers are responsible for selecting products suitable for their intended installation, including checking voltage, wattage, current, dimming compatibility and environmental requirements.

Electrical products should be installed by a suitably qualified professional where appropriate, and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and applicable electrical safety standards.

Damage resulting from incorrect installation, improper wiring, electrical overload, incompatible equipment, misuse, unauthorised modification or operation outside specified conditions may not constitute a product defect.

Products that have been cut, altered, permanently installed or modified may not qualify for voluntary returns or exchanges.

Nothing in this section excludes liability for genuine product defects or limits any rights afforded by applicable consumer protection legislation.

5. Damaged or Incorrect Items

If your order arrives damaged or you receive an incorrect item, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Include your order number, a description of the issue and photographs of the product and packaging where available.

Where damage occurred during delivery or an incorrect product was supplied, we will arrange an appropriate resolution in accordance with your statutory rights, including a replacement or refund where applicable.

6. Refunds

Once your return has been received and assessed, where necessary, we will notify you of the outcome.

Approved refunds will generally be issued to the original payment method, where possible.

For cancellations made under the ECTA seven-day cooling-off provisions, refunds will be processed within 30 days of cancellation, as required by law.

Refunds arising from faulty goods, incorrect items or other statutory rights will be processed in accordance with applicable legislation.

Banking and payment-provider processing times may vary.
